I Love Chocolate

It's always the oddest times of day when I get these great chocolate urges ! Today while I was cleaning up the guest room I got them. The other day I think I was on the toilet O_0

And here is another Charmbly. It's Clara Bow this time, that lovely actress from the past. I've never seen any of her films yet I've always liked her.

That's it for today, a quick one and to the point...well, sortof.

Oh, the image in the background of the cute wee doggies, that's a birthday card we bought for our sons 13th. birthday. The pug is trying to get a lick of a cupcake, but I love the French Bulldog's look lol ! The card just seems to work with my Charmblies, adding that extra bit of silliness :)

Green and Messy

My parents had quite a bit of stuff and a lot of their smaller items have ended up in our home, mostly in my wee art room. I've had to temporarily give up making any new creations because I just cannot work with 'non-art' stuff around me, it seems to take away from the creative energy.
So I am slowly purging things that we no longer want --from our home and my parents. It feels great giving it away and/or sending off to a thrift shop. Now my art room is finally beginning to re-emerge, although you wouldn't know it by the photo lol !
The desk will soon be gone and replaced with one of my moms makeup desks and a matching 3 drawer dresser will take the place of the plastic 3 drawer holder that sits under the window ( can't wait, the plastic thing was great but it sags on top, the 'new' dresser doesn't woohoo ! ). The desk and dresser set was made by my dad, he actually made 2 sets of which the other one has gone to the little daughter of one of my husbands friends ( very happy about that, and I even included the big fancy mirror that was in my parents bedroom --something a little princess would love ). I'll take a pic. of the art room when it's tidied up, but for now you can enjoy this mess ( the blue box on the floor holds smaller items I will be altering and selling on Etsy ):

For the past couple of weeks I've been enjoying homemade iced green tea.

I'm slowly getting back on the health track, fell way off it when mom passed away in March, and began eating crappy foods again. Last month I hauled out our juicer and now juice almost twice a week. I still eat some crappy stuff but at least I'm aware of it again and making changes.

Iced green tea is another healthy drink, the antioxidants and benefits from both the tea and honey. It's quite simple to make, just make a brew of green tea, add honey to taste, let cool and add cold water, put in fridge. BUT, don't let the tea brew for too long or it will take on a bitter taste. Mine sat for a minute too long and although there is some bitterness, the honey helps to cover it up.
Today I made another batch but this time I dropped in some mint and lemon loose tea and additional honey so it's nice and sweet. So far, in it's warm state, it's quite tasty and I love the fresh feeling the mint leaves in your mouth. I'm sure it will taste even better once nice and cold :)

The tea still has some bitterness but I like the combo of bitter and sweet anyway. Now if I could just do something with the tea leaves other than toss them --- I'll check the net to see if I can put some around certain plants outside and then maybe bury the rest in the backyard.

Now off to purge some more ! ♥

Getting back on track

Hee-hee ! Those chicken legs have nothing to do with this post but I felt that something goofy was needed :)

It's been just over two months since my moms passing and today I finally began walking again yay ! Brought my new pedometer and off I went, but only walked up the hill and back so as to not shock my body too much. I walked just over 6,000 steps, that just over 3 miles. You can see where I walk in a previous post, pics. and all. It was really lovely today, so many birds and lovesick crows lol !

I'm supposed to be cleaning out my art studio today. Interesting how you gather so much stuff, thinking it will be used, and then something happens to take you away from it --when you get back to it, it's not the same. I have a bunch of boxes, some vintage silverware, some sturdy gift boxes, etc...was going to alter them into jewelry boxes, etc...covering with my various bits and pieces of papers/broken jewelry/computer bits and more. But now they just look like too much work and I'm really not in the mood to take on larger projects. Plus with all the 'stuff' from my parents home, I really have to be more realistic and just get rid of the boxes. It doesn't sadden me because I can always get more from the thrift shops if I want. So far I prefer creating smaller items, like my pendants posted earlier, and plan to stick with those. Of course it could all change again, that's the beauty of being artistic, not having to stick with one style. But that can get a bit frustrating...sometimes I would like to find one style ! Anyway, I'm not going to go on about that because my studio is getting filled with the smaller 'stuff' from my parents, it's beginning to look like a thrift shop and I just don't feel like creating when the room has other stuff than art. For now, I will be listing some of my parents things on Etsy. When that will happen I really can't say...anytime I guess.

Ah, it's good to be able to write about things other than ' a death in the family'. The flowers are blooming, the garden is calling to be dug and turned. I bought a few packages of seeds, hoping to grow something different this year:

The corn is because I've always been a curious type. Our son has his own small plot and so we're going to see if we can grow a few stalks, just to see if it is possible and what they will look like ( healthy, tall...?? ). Our backyard is small but gets lots of sun, so why not. I have lobelia and Echinacea, just wanted to add more. The daisies are new, love the colors ! I've high hopes it will all bloom.

Thought I'd toss in a pic. of our deck. We just power washed it yesterday so it's still in the "where am I going to put everything" stage. I like to move it around so the flowers get the best light and we get the best views.

Well now I'm hungry, so off to munch something. Have a great day !

Out with the weight and in with the sneakies !

Good day all :)

Just a quicky. I'm down another 1.8 lbs. woohoo ! Now at 185.2 from last weeks 187. It's a slow process and it's happening. If I do just a little more exercise this week then maybe I'll be down 2 lbs ? My progress can be seen in my Flickr photos which are shown on the right of my blog.

And another sneak peek of upcoming Etsy goodies ! There's the start of another brooch and a lovely shabby chunky Scrabble tile bracelet. Plus I'm making some custom earrings for the buyer who bought my Japanese Flowers from Arizona Scrabble pendant. Fun !

What I'm doing UPDATED for Aug.11:

Here's another look at her. She's slowly coming together, much more to go but I first have to wait until it all dries before attaching, grrrr. Elements used so far: stars, more stars, tin star bits from a candle holder, watch bits.

I've put myself on holiday from Etsy and I'm making myself work on some new art projects, etc...

So far I've made up a couple of 'destash' packages --so many bits and baubles, I figured it would be nice to share some and put them in some reusable boxes too ( to use as shrines, frames, whatever strikes the buyers fancy ). I've another atc card and a sweet whimsical picture telling us not to be so serious ( ! ). Above is another project I've just started, using a rusty old spring I found off a local beach. The doll is vintage plastic Made in Hong Kong and has the closing eyes. She's going to be adorned with lots of goodies. You'll have to wait for the after photo in a few days. And yes that is my messy desk lol !
